Among the non-pharmacological interventions attracting growing scientific interest is full-spectrum infrared therapy.
While it should never replace conventional medical care, an expanding body of research suggests infrared therapy may provide meaningful support in selected patients, particularly when integrated into broader lifestyle, rehabilitation and preventive care strategies.

Understanding Full-Spectrum Infrared
Infrared therapy is not a single modality. Different wavelengths interact with tissues differently, producing distinct physiological responses.
Near Infrared (NIR)
• Primary mechanism: photobiomodulation.
• Supports mitochondrial ATP production, tissue repair, collagen synthesis and cellular metabolism.
Mid Infrared (MIR)
• Primarily absorbed within superficial soft tissues.
• Associated with vasodilation, increased circulation, muscle relaxation and reduced discomfort.
Far Infrared (FIR)

When Infrared Therapy May Not Be Appropriate
Current evidence does not support infrared therapy as a standalone treatment for major depressive disorder, cancer, autoimmune disease, hormonal disorders or infertility.
Infrared therapy should instead be considered a complementary intervention within an evidence-based treatment plan and not as a replacement for appropriate medical evaluation or treatment.
